Tribal jirga vows full support to security forces

A jirga of Haleemzai tribe of Mohmand Agency on Friday pledged to extend full support to the local administration and the security forces in eliminating militants from the area. Addressing the jirga, Political Agent Mehmood Aslam Wazir said that it was our collective responsibility to maintain law and order situation in the tribal agency.
He urged the Haleemzai elders to continue their cooperation and keep a vigilant eye on suspected activities in their respective areas. "Strict action will be taken against anti-state elements and their facilitators," he warned. Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Mohmand Rifles Colonel Asif Iqbal as the tribal elders to cooperate with the security forces and report any kind of suspected activity.
Tribal elders from different sub-tribes of Haleemzai resolved that they would fight against the militants and fully support the security forces in the operation against militants, who they said were depriving their children of education and health facilities and destroying the tribal customs and traditions. Those who spoke at the jirga included: Malik Amir Nawaz Khan, Malik Sahib Dad, Malik Aurang Zeb, Malik Nazir Khan, Salim Sardar, Malik Ayaz, Malik Mian Jan, Malik Darya Khan, Mohmand Welfare Organisation President Mir Afzal Mohmand, Malik Mehraban Shah and others.
The tribal elders decided that strict action would be taken against those tribesmen who were found sheltering anti-state elements in the area. They said that the militants were the joint enemy of tribesmen and the security forces. The tribal elders also demanded of the authorities concerned to lift ban on the transportation of fertilisers to the area.
