Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan expressed on Sunday his gratitude to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif after Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi agreed to grant a land for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital in the port city.
In a message on his facebook page, PTI chairman, who is also the founding chairman of the SKMT Board of Governors, said that he wanted to express his thanks to the army chief for allotting land for his welfare hospital.
"I want to thank COAS General Raheel for helping SKMCH by granting land in DHA Karachi for the hospital [SKMCH]".
On February 24, DHA and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a cancer hospital in Karachi. Under the MoU, DHA City Karachi (DCK) will provide land to SKMCH for establishment of a cancer hospital in the port city.
When contacted, DHA administrator Brigadier Zubair Ahmad confirmed that the MoU had been signed between SKMCH and DHA. "This is a huge milestone for both DHA and SKMCH that will benefit the whole community," he added.
DHA is providing 18 acres of land in DHA City, located on the Super Highway, for the establishment of the hospital. It will cater not only to the residents of Karachi but also those hailing from Balochistan, rural Sindh and Southern Punjab.
