Representa-tives of civil society organisations have demanded of the provincial government to pass Child Marriage Restraint Bill 2016 to avoid early girl marriage in the province.
The demand was made by Qamar Naseem of Blue Veins, member Balochistan Assembly Shama Ishaq, Zar Ali Musazai and others, while addressing a news conference here. They said that early marriage was not only harmful for both the girl and boy particularly for girls' health.
The MPA said that the delegation of legislators from Balochistan had not come from the province to enjoy lunch or dinner with Chief Minister KP but to get first hand information about legislation for child and women rights. He said there was no cultural difference between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, despite that Balochistan government had passed bills related to women and child rights while the KP government was least bothered toward the issue. Naseem said that the KP government passed near hundred bills from the Assembly but none of these were sent to CII except the child marriage bill, which was regrettable.
