29 Feb, 2016

Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has called upon the federal government to increase the share of provinces in National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, to remove the sense of deprivation among smaller federating units of the country. Sherpao stressed the need for increasing the share of provinces in the divisible pool of resources, which currently stood at 57.5pc. He said that KP province was at the frontline of the war against terrorism and its infrastructure had been devastated.
He was speaking to the party's office-bearers and workers from Tehsil Tangi of district Charsadda on Sunday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Irrigation Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Technical Education Arshad Khan Umarzai, MPA from PK-20 Haji Khalid Khan and others also attended the public meeting.
The QWP chief said it was a dire need of the hour to hold a real population census in the country. He asked the government to conduct national population and house census without any further delay.
He said that peace could only be restored in the region by taking Pakhtuns on board in all matters. He said it was the biggest dilemma of the country that the rights of smaller federating units had completely ignored, which had given rise to sense of deprivation among them.
He said that the QWP's prime objective was to serve nation with full dedication and make untiring efforts towards restoration of sustainable and durable peace in the entire region.
