Chehlum of Bacha Khan University's students and faculty members, who were killed in terrorists' attack at the campus on January 20 2016, was held amid tight security at BKU in Charsadda on Monday. Quran Khawani and Fateha were offered for departed souls of martyrs of the BKU. On the occasion, police contingent presented salutes to the martyrs.
Vice Chancellor of the BKU, Dr Fazal Rahim Marwat, renowned cricketer Younis Khan, DIG Mardan Range Saeed Wazir, Secretary Higher Education Farah Hamid and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Younis Khan also visited the terror-hit site and paid tribute to the martyred students, teachers and staff.
He said that the whole nation stands with bereaved families, and lauded the efforts of the incumbent government and Pakistan Army for combating the menace of terrorism. On the occasion, the BKU Vice Chancellor announced to establish a martyrs' monument in the premises of the university. On January 20, militants had stormed Bacha Khan University in the early hours. At least 21 persons including a PhD professor and security personnel were martyred in the attack.
