Enhanced blackouts by KE: PPP urges NAB, FIA to investigate

02 Mar, 2016

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Karachi Division President Najmi Alam, General Secretary Nadeem Bhutto, Information Secretary Lateef Mughal and Deputy Information Secretary Manzoor Abbas have strongly condemned the K-Electric for increasing the spells of blackouts in Karachi with the advent of summer. A joint press release released by PPP media cell stated that K-Electric has once again started blackmailing the government by frequently shedding load on residential and commercial consumers.
The overall duration of blackout in the city has crossed 16 hours but the billing is same, which clearly indicates that there is something fishy and certain corners of the state are backing the K-Electric for the loot. PPP leaders while addressing the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif asked him to witness the all time hazardous impacts of the sale of national strategic institutions such as K-Electric as the process and plans of privatising national institutions of key strategic importance would yield no positive results as is with the K-electric.
The PPP leaders while addressing the national accountability bureau (NAB) and the federal investigation agency (FIA) asked as why they have failed to notice the anti-state and anti-people activities of the K-electric as yet. It is candid clear that in case the Sindh provincial government had any control on the K-Electric as provincial subject, the NAB and the FIA could have taken action upon action, they opined. The PPP leaders while addressing the NEPRA said the K-Electric has established a state within the state and has been allowed to ruin the country's economic hub and loot the consumers and for this heinous crime, the former dictator Pervez Musharraf is responsible for which the nation especially the Karachites won't forgive him.
They asked the NEPRA to make their salaries and perks and privileges they get from the taxes paid by the Karachites as Halal by taking notice of K-Electric's atrocities on Karachites. They asked the FIA and the NAB to initiate investigations on K-Electric to prove they are not biased.-PR
