Deputy Commissioner Thatta Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon has directed the concerned authorities to finalise all the arrangements for three-day anti-polio campaign, which would be started from March 14, so that anti-polio drops would be administrated properly to all the children less than five years of age.
"The routine immunisation campaign should also be carried out in the district so that measles, diphtheria and other diseases would also be eliminated from the district", he directed.
He stated this while chairing a meeting of District Polio Eradication Committee to review arrangements for coming anti-polio campaign.
He said that parents, Ulema, teachers and the media can play a vital rule in this national cause by creating awareness.
The deputy commissioner also directed the assistant commissioners and other relevant officers to launch stray dogs killing campaign and mosquito spray should also be ensured in their respective areas.
On the occasion, SSP Thatta Fida Hussain Mastoi said Police department will provide foolproof security to the polio teams and extended his full support and cooperation with Health department during anti-polio drive in the district.
Meanwhile, District Health Officer Thatta Dr Abdul Fatah Mahar informed that anti-polio awareness walk will also be held on March 09, to make people aware of the anti-polio drive against fatal disease.
Further he informed that Thatta Health department Thatta has targeted 1,79,143 children less than five years of age to administer anti-polio drops, total 381 mobile and 36 transit teams have been constituted in this regard. Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Captain Bilal Shahid Rao, AC Ghorabari Usman Tanveer and officers of Education, PPHI, WHO, Social welfare, Local Government and other heads of the relevant departments were also present on the occasion.
