The business community has expressed great concern over delay in arrest of killers of their leader, Haji Muhammad Haleem Jan who was brutally murdered by a target killer on February 9, 2016 in busy Kissa Khawani Bazaar in broad day light.
In a press statement issued here on Sunday, Chairman All Pakistan Ajuman-e-Tajran, Khawaja Shafiq said it is a matter of serious concern that around one month passed but Police has failed to arrest killer of Shaheed Peshawar, Haji Muhammad Haleem Jan.
It merits a mention here that Haji Haleem Jan was receiving threatening calls from extortionists from the last several months for payment of money and was gunned down due to his refusal to comply with their demands.
Chairman Khawaja Shafiq also rejected press reports appearing in press that killers have escaped to Afghanistan after crossing border. Similarly, he continued, Police is also making excuse that extortionists are calling from Afghanistan and therefore they are unable to stop them.
"Though we understand Police's inability in taking action in Afghanistan, but who is responsible for killing of people by extortionists in busy commercial bazars of Peshawar," Khawaja Shafiq asked. Furthermore, he went on to say, Police is issuing names of the killers and their accomplices in press which is further endangering lives of deceased (Haleem Jan) family. He demanded of Imran Khan, the PTI which is ruling in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to direct provincial government to deployment either Frontier Constabulary (FC) or Pakistan Rangers for maintenance of peace to provide protection to the people of KP, especially business community.
The business community is in a lurch over increasing calls from extortionists who are demanding money and threatening of dire consequences over non-payment. While on the other hand, Khawaja Shafiq went on to say, Police is showing its inability to take action against criminals on the pretext of vicinity of tribal belt and border crossing by criminals. "Where people should go, if law enforcers started showing their inability in providing protection to them from extortionists," Khawaja Shafiq questioned. He said PTI chief, Imran Khan was among those politicians who demanded deployment of Rangers in Karachi for protection of trading community from extortionists.
