This is apropos a news item 'CPEC projects: China disburses $11.24m' carried by the newspaper on Saturday. According to it, the government has to-date disbursed Rs 7.64 billion and China Rs 1.14 billion ($11.24 million) on the proposed $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Attributing to Economic Affairs Division (EAD), the report says China has distributed $561.4 million on development projects in Pakistan other than CPEC and disbursed $11.24 million on "Construction of Cross Border Optical Fiber Cable System" under the CPEC.
The allocations, however modest, both by China and Pakistan are of very high import. The situation, however, clearly underscores the need for greater transparency in the execution of this mega project. The situation also underscores the need for greater political resolve. Hence the need for an end to all sorts of bickering over the CPEC routes without any further loss of time.
