The Karachi Port handled 183,298 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,760 tonnes of import cargo and 51,538 tonnes of export cargo including 5,556 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 131,760 tonnes comprised of 67,012 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,407 tonnes of general cargo and 47,341 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 51,538 tonnes comprised of 44,917 tonnes of containerised cargo; 451 tonnes of general cargo and 6,170 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,556 containers comprising of 2,709 containers import and 2,847 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,061 of 20's and 532 of 40's loaded while 298 of 20's and 143 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,290 of 20's and 661 of 40's loaded containers while 1 of 20's and 117 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, Zhen Hua-18, SC Dalian, Al-Abdali, Chem Tiger, Eternal Diligence, BBC Hudson, Liberty Promise, Chang Hang Bin and Mandarin Fortune carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, steel coils, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Hanjin Indigo, UAFL Zanzibar, X-Press Euphrates, Kota Kaya, Intrepid Republic, BBC Hudson and U Noble carrying containers, oil tanker, steel and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Hanjin Indigo, UAFL Zanzibar, X-Press Euphrates and Kota Kaya carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday while another ship namely Leopard carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. ACX Pearl, Hansa Neuburg, Uni Prudent and Mathawee Naree carrying containers and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday while five vessels viz. APJ Shirin, MTM London, Malhari, Elgiznur Cebi and Universal Bremen carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, coal and steel respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
