LCCI Vice President Nasir Saeed has urged the traders to prepare proposals and submit to the chamber as the Federal Board of Revenue has already launched a budget-making exercise. He stated this while addressing the opening ceremony of a machinery display centre at the Badami Bagh on Friday.
He said, "More than 90 percent of the revenue is being generated through trade and industry. Therefore, businessmen and women should be given due facilitation and for this purpose LCCI will continue to play its role proactively. The FBR will be unable to achieve its revenue target without providing a business friendly atmosphere to the business doing people." He also urged Pakistani entrepreneurs to focus on innovation and business operations on latest techniques.
"It is a matter of concern that we are still struggling to achieve the export target of US 25 billion dollars despite having all resources to move forward while those countries are far ahead of us which are following our economic role model in the past. Pakistan's exports base is extremely limited and concentrated in five products namely cotton, leather, rice, synthetic and textile. More than 60 percent of exports earnings are contributed by the textile industry while 15 percent of total exports contributed by leather, synthetic made-ups and rice," he added.
