The federal government has appointed Allah Dino Khawaja, who is widely known as AD Khawaja, as the new Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh. He will replace Ghulam Hyder Jamali. Establishment Division has issued a notification in this respect. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the summary from the Sindh government to appoint A D Khawaja as the Sindh Inspector General.
Currently, Khawaja has been working as Additional IG Special Branch Police and was also a member of an inquiry committee set up to probe illegal appointments. On Friday, Supreme Court had directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to expeditiously pursue an inquiry into corruption committed by Sindh police officers, including Ghulam Haider Jamali, within a month. On Thursday, Supreme Court bench conceded that out of the 12,000 appointments made in Sindh Police, 5,000 were found to be illegal.
INP adds: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali was sacked on Saturday after the Supreme Court (SC) ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to probe corruption in Sindh Police. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has signed the summary of appointment of Khawaja as IGP Sindh.
