Amjad A Khan, Managing Director Nespak, made a detailed visit of various sections of the Orange Line Metro Train (OMT) Project here on Sunday. He took detailed briefings from the in-charges of various portions of this important project regarding the quality and speed of construction over the entire length of 27km route. Safety and health measures being adopted during the execution of this project were discussed in detail.
Although prescribed health and safety measures are already being applied, yet more improvement is required which the MD pointed out and reminded the concerned staff that it is a continuous process on such a mega project.
The MD reiterated that no one from the staff, both from the contractor and consultant, will be allowed to work on the project site without adopting necessary safety measures. He stressed upon the need for further strengthening protection sheets and barriers along the project route. He said in-charges must enforce the safety regulations and be prepared to halt unsafe actions; and the workers need to wear safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to their seniors. Recognising safety hazards is the most important element in preventing accidents, he stressed.
During his surprise visit, the MD instructed the relevant staff of Nespak to be more vigilant in performing construction supervision during night and rainy season. The MD promised hefty reward for the staff of Nespak on successful and timely completion of the project. The MD appreciated the efforts of the site staff and project manager who were present at their respective duty locations in spite of ongoing rainy spell and were performing their tasks to complete this transportation facility of international standard for the citizens of Lahore.
