Mohafiz is a life saving application, designed in the wake of the APS attack and developed over the course of one year, allowing a person to broadcast life-threatening situations to the nominated In Case of Emergency (ICE) contacts through SMS.
ICE contacts can be any immediate family members, your neighbours, friends, colleagues, people whom you know and trust to let go of everything to come to your assistance when you need it the most.
Fahad Mahmood Khan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Humanetek/Mohafiz while talking to Business Recorder said, "Anyone who has ever gone through such situation would already have a better idea of how this app can work for him or her. Whenever a person finds themselves in a life-threatening emergency, such as being robbed at home or outside, a terrorist incident, a medical emergency or a car accident, they use the Mohafiz App to alert their dependable loved ones and government appointed first responders of the danger that is being faced by them."
Mohafiz is a mobile application which asks for person's phone number on downloading so that it verifies a person as a genuine user by supplying a code through SMS. After the code is entered the app will start working.
Next it allows the person to enter personal life saving information specifically asking it for its name, gender, city, blood group. There is an option to also supply information on any existing medical condition that you may be living with such as high BP, diabetes and cancer etc.
It further asks for minimum 2 and maximum 7 nominated ICE contacts by selecting their numbers from contact list. As soon as this is done, SMS is sent to these ICE contacts that they have been nominated to provide assistance in state of emergency.
In an actual emergency situation, person is required to click on the application widget to launch the application. The screen will present two buttons; Red and Orange. The Red button is to be pressed if it is an immediate emergency and you don't have time to classify the nature of emergency. Pressing the Red button immediately will send SMS with the location and a general distress message to ICE contacts. It is necessary that the person should be connected to Wi-Fi or data to send its location. If GPRS is active then the same will be transmitted through Twitter, provided that your app is synced with them (which can easily be done in the settings tab).
Pressing the Orange button in an evolving situation since it presents options to classify the exact nature of emergency that the person is experiencing. This transmits the same message as the Red button but also adds the exact nature of emergency faced so that ICE contacts get prepared to deal with the situation.
"This function can also be linked to government first responders such as 1122, NDMA, Rangers and Police", Fahad added. An additional feature of Mohafiz is that it keeps on giving news feeds about security related news in the area any person is living in. This allows staying abreast of any developing situations so that the person may plan his routes effectively.
Finally, the Mohafiz app also helps in the blood donation process. It asks about blood group at the time of initial signup, also taking person's consent for being placed in the donor database. "When someone needs to secure blood for a loved one, he can easily find ample donors of his requisite blood group in his own locality by using the Mohafiz blood donor function app," he said.
