Four alleged militants, 107 POs held in Dir Upper

The district police claimed to have arrested four suspected militants along with 107 proclaimed offenders (POs) in various areas in Dir Upper and recovered arms from their positions. Talking to the media person at his office, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Israr-uddin Bacha said that during the last two and half months the district police had conducted raids in various areas in the district and arrested four wanted militants involved in a bomb blast which took place at mosque in 2009, in which more than 40 people killed left many injured.
The official said that the police also arrested 107 proclaimed offenders wanted by the police in various crimes while the police also arrested 515 suspected persons. According the arms the police recovered, DPO said that the district police had recovered 10 Kalashnikovs, 11 rifles, 25 guns, 36 pistols, four magazines, 1145 cartridges and 10kg of explosives.
He said the district police had also seized 25kg, hashish from the smugglers in the district during the recent month. Adding the police also conducted operations against timber smugglers and grabbed 230 (Saliparan) from them. Meanwhile, on Friday, according to the Gnadigar police that a suspected militant was arrested during raid a house in Jabbar in Usheri Dara area of Upper Dir and recovered arms and explosives. The police said that on the information of the detained suspected militant Bacha Hussain son of Gul Zarin, the police along with Dir-Scout raided his house. They recovered four bag explosives, four bombs, RPG7-6, LMG-1 while 120 LMG rounds. The police had also arrested father and brother of the arrested militant.
