Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday asked the party cadres to gear up and make advance preparations for 2018 general elections as the party has to be fully activated and mobilised to the grass-root levels to reinvent its glorious past in the second and third generations of jiyalas.
The PPP Chairman was presiding over a high-level meeting of the PPP and its sister organisations at Bilawal House to discuss the overall political situation of the country, with especial reference to Sindh province, law and order and he matters related to the organisations.
Bilawal said that struggle launched by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for democracy and for restoration of democracy by Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was still continuing and "we shall strive hard to strengthen democratic system put in place by the Party founders with so many sacrifices."
He further pointed out that dictatorial forces would try to weaken democracy but the PPP and other true democratic and progressive political parties would jointly foil such designs with the support of the masses of the country.
PPP leaders briefed the Chairman about the preparations for public meeting to be held on the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on April 4, 2016 at Garhi Khuda Bux.
Meanwhile, a 3-member permanent committee was formed for observing the martyrdom day anniversaries of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on April 04 and December 27, respectively every year.
The committee will comprise Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Nasir Shah and Maula Bux Chandio.
Those who attended the meeting include Chief Minister Sindh and President PPP Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Senior Sindh Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Provincial Ministers Murad Ali Shah, Jam Mehtab Daher and Nasir Shah, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Maula Bux Chandio, President PPP Youth Wing Sindh Senator Aajiz Dhamrah, President People's Students Federation (PSF) Sohrab Khan Marri and President PPP Women Wing Sindh MNA Shagufta Jumani.
