Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the provincial government is going to purchase 100 new dialysis machines of which 50 will be given to the Sindh Institute Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).
He stated this during a visit to the SIUT Chibblani Center Sukkur where he took round of different units and operation theater. He also reviewed the center's ongoing development work, said a handout issued here on Sunday. Dr Adeeb Rizvi, Commissioner Sukkur Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Director Sukkur IBA Nisar Ahmad Siddiqui and others were also present.
The health minister said that efforts were being taken to make functional all the precious machinery kept in the hospitals of the province and ensure that doctors perform their duties regularly.
He said that the PPP government was serving the health sector on priority basis, and liver transplantation at government hospital Gambat was an example of provincial government's seriousness towards the health sector.
"During the next SIUT programs, ministers from other provinces will be invited and they will be informed that how much development has been achieved in the health sector," said Mr. Dahar assuring Dr Adeeb Rizvi that the provincial government will continue all out possible cooperation to the SIUT in serving humanity without any discrimination.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Adeeb Rizvi said that it was the first experiment in the northern Sindh and during past five years the SIUT Chiblani Center Sukkur got remarkable achievement. He said the SIUT Chiblani Center was now working round the clock. He said that 900 dialysis cases were being performed there on a daily basis, including 600 to 700 patients were being examined in the OPD, and 24-hour emergency services were also available.
Dr Rizvi further said that 32 percent dialysis and 75% transplantation in the country were being performed at his SIUT that was serving people without any discrimination.
