Pakistan Day celebrated in Karachi with fervour

The 76th Pakistan Day was celebrated throughout the country on Wednesday with traditional fervour to commemorate the 1940's Lahore Resolution. During the day, special prayers were held for security and prosperity of the country. The day dawned with a 21-gun salute in the provincial capital followed by prayers in mosques after Fajar prayers and then the national flag was hoisted at major government buildings. Investiture ceremony was also held and personnel from Pakistan Navy took command at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam
Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Chairman Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto laid wreaths at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to pay homage to the founder of the nation. They offered Fateha for him.
Talking to newsmen at mausoleum of father of the nation, CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah said that country was on right track in terms of meeting security challenges, adding that law and order situation of Sindh particularly in Karachi was presently far better than previous years. Later, receptions were held by the governor and chief minister in Karachi. Meanwhile, large number of people along with their families visited the mausoleum of father of the nation to pay homage to the great leader on Pakistan Day.
Impressive ceremonies including seminars, poetry recitation events, exhibitions of photographs and documents relating to the Pakistan Movement, Qirat contests, debates and essay competitions were organised at different educational institutions to commemorate the historic event of passage of Pakistan Resolution some 76 years ago on 23rd March 1940 at Lahore by Muslim League which ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan. Television and radio stations broadcast special programmes and newspapers took out special supplements to highlight significance of the day. ICI Pakistan has arranged fun event for the children suffering from cancer at PAF museum to spread awareness among them about Pakistan Day and make their day blissful on the occasion.
