Fata will be connected with CPEC: KP governor

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Thursday reiterated the multi-billion dollars China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a game changer for the region and will also benefit Federally Administered Tribal Areas besides the rest parts of the country.
"The entire country, particularly least-developed regions, like Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Fata will reap the benefits of CPEC," Jhagra said while speaking as chief guest at inauguration ceremony of Takhtabaig-Mattani road project held at Mattani-Takhtabaig check post in Khyber tribal Agency on Thursday. The KP governor said Federally Administered Tribal Areas will be connected with China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He further said that the fusion of multiple development projects under CPEC provides a window of opportunity that will bring socio-economic development and prosperity in all provinces, he added.
"The government is committed to developing Fata and bringing change in social fabric of tribal society to remove sense of deprivation among them, he said. Director General, Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) Major General Mohammad Afzal, Political Agent, Khyber Agency, Khalid Mehmood, Parliamentarians from Khyber Agency, and tribal elders were also present on the occasion.
DG, FWO Major General Mohammad Afzal said that despite unfavourable work condition, the FWO finalised the scheme which was appreciable. He further said that the new route would decrease the pressure of heavy traffic in residential areas of Peshawar and would bring economic prosperity to the region. Earlier, the KP Governor unveiled the plaque to formally open the road.
