President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain conferred Pride of Performance award to Professor Dr Abida Taherani, Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh in recognition to her meritorious achievements in the field of education, during an impressive ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on 23rd March.
Dr Abida Taherani, Meritorious Professor and Vice-Chancellor, University of Sindh, dedicated teacher of 39 years standing and devoted researcher par-excellence with her expertise and profound knowledge covering vast canvas of fields ranging from Economics, Agricultural Economics, Developmental Economics and Sustainable Development and Environment, Gender and Poverty Studies, Water Resources, Drainage and Coastal and Indus Delta Mangroves.
Besides completing many research projects funded by the government and other agencies including World Bank and Asian Development Bank, she has supervised 10 doctoral studies spanning over all these diverse fields of her expertise, with another 9 scholars presently pursuing PhD research under her supervision and another 6 studying for MS/MPhil degrees. Dr Taherani's educational background is studded with top positions and gold medals, starting from Master in Economics degrees from both the University of Sindh and London culminating to the PhD degree in Agricultural Economics in 1995 from Colorado State University, USA.
