Hindu community on Thursday celebrated the festival of colour and spring, Holi, with zeal and enthusiasm. It was for the first time that Sindh government with a view to facilitating Hindu community had declared Thursday as public holiday across the province. A large number of Hindu families, including men, women, children and elderly persons, who gathered at a number of temples in the city, performed their religious rituals and sprayed colour on each to enjoy the festival.
They also prayed for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan in their special prayers. A number of parties were also organised where boys and girls, belonging to the Hindu community, sprayed colour on each other, besides enjoying musical programmes. Earlier on Wednesday, National Students Federation (NSF) formed a human chain outside the Shree Swami Narayan Temple where the Hindu community along with many Muslim friends celebrated the festival of colour and spring.
