India soyoil futures touched a more than five-month high on Friday on expectations of higher demand, while soybeans rose on hopes of buying by millers. April soyoil futures on the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange were 2.06 percent higher at 647.80 rupees ($9.76) per 10 kg by 1423 GMT, a level last seen on October 19. The April soybean contract surged 2.37 percent to 4,105 rupees per 100 kg. Gains also tracked a rise in Malaysian palm oil futures.
The April rapeseed contract rose 0.91 percent to 4,195 rupees per 100 kg. Strong demand despite higher arrivals boosted prices. The most active May sugar contract was 2.20 percent lower at 3,556 rupees per 100 kg on profit taking.
