The Karachi Port handled 185,762 tonnes of cargo comprising 144,208 tonnes of import cargo and 41,554 tonnes of export cargo including 6,008 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 144,208 tonnes comprised of 59,713 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,030 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,552 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 6,500 tonnes of coal; 2,553 tonnes of SB meal; 2,499 tonnes of canola and 54,913 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,554 tonnes comprised of 14,902 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25,402 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,552 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 17,850 tonnes of iron powder and 1,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,008 containers comprising of 4,277 containers import and 1,731 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,363 of 20's and 1,435 of 40's loaded while 4 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 399 of 20's and 263 of 40's loaded containers while 160 of 20's and 323 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Batam Trader, Osaka Tower, Bay Pearl, DL Aster, Yangtze Ambition and HTC Bravo carrying containers, oil tankers, SB meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Cosco Sao Paulo, Hyundai General, MOL Dedication, DL Violet, Amoy Dream, Stellar Maestro and Chang Hang Jin Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely YM Express, Leopard, DL Violet, Eleni-D and Le He carrying containers, oil tanker, D meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while two ships namely Hyundai General and Gema carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were three vessels viz. Al Abdali, APL Coral and Oriental Green carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. X-Press Euphrates, Shalamar, Winter, N Mars, Alster Bay and Orient Jasmine carrying containers, chemical, oil tanker, mogas and coal respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
