March 31st2016: 9.7 million bales reach ginneries

Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to March 31st, 2016. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 97,62.144 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of March 31st showing a decrease of 34.21 cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,48,38,605 bales.
According to the 15th fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here on Sunday, Chairman of PCGA Nawab Shehzad Ali Khan briefed the media men about cotton production and said that In spite of 34.21 percent less production of cotton, 0.489 million bales are lying unsold in the ginneries and textile are not taking interest in purchasing the stock, as most of the participants are on the sidelines in the absence of motivating factors.
He said that out of the total arrivals, 9.762 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab arrival of 59,96,107 bales recorded decrease of 44.81 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 37,66,037 bales while last year Sindh received 39,74,500 bales merely 5.25 percent less. Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 5.25 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.
Textile mills have bought 89, 11,002 bales while exporters bought 3,62,141 bales. The total bales sold out so far was calculated at 92, 73,143 bales. Multan received 1,29,784 bales 73.90 percent short than last year, Lodhran 97,437 bales 73.83 percent short, Khanewal 4,04,570 bales 58.99 percent short, Muzaffargarh 2,69,344 bales a decrease of 45.39 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,91,145, a decrease of 40.85 Rajanpur 4,05,437 bales, 28.65 percent decrease, Layyah 2,51,988 , 36.25 % less , Vehari 3,12,850 bales 61.07 percent less, Sahiwal 2,56,016 bales 57.13 6 % less than last year, Pakpattan 66,478 bales 59.85 percent less, Okara 22,148-56.84% less, Qasur 11,376-46.47 percent less, Toba Tek Singh 1,41,107 bales, Faisalabad 52,839 bales, Jhang 42,,680 Mianwali 3,43,863, Bhakkar 82,759 Sargodha 11,607, Rahimyar Khan 11,14,280 bales 21.07% decrease, Bahawalpur 7,45,201,and Bahwalnagar 94,23,298 bales. In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,50,607 bales 5.56 % less than last year, Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,74,145 , bales 31.28 % less, Sangarh ,13,46,464 bales 10.62 % decrease, Nawabshah 3,12,622 bales, Naushero Feroze 2,83,084 bales, Khairpur 2,70,431 Ghotki 3,20,362 , Sukkur 4,48,068, Dadu 36,328 Jamshoro 1,33,000 bales, Badin 31,645 bales and Balochistan 57,045 bales. Total 47 ginning factories are operational in the country. Of them 41 in Punjab and 6 in Sindh. Total 4,89,001, bales are lying in ginneries as unsold stock.
