Police on Sunday claimed to have killed four alleged terrorists and arrested six others from different areas of the metropolis. According to police and rescue sources, a police team headed by SSP Rao Anwar conducted a targeted raid at a hideouts in Bhense Colony area of densely populated Landhi during the wee hours of the day.
On arrival of police, the terrorists instead of surrendering themselves opened firing on the personnel that ensued an encounter. In retaliatory firing, some four terrorists were killed on the spot. They were allegedly involved in sectarian killings as well as killings of police and Rangers personnel. Their bodies were moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. The killed terrorists were said to be associated with a banned organisation. Police said explosive materials and official guns were recovered from their possession. The alleged terrorists were later identified as Zubair, Ammad Abid, Arshad and Nisar.
Similarly, in another targeted raid by police, some six accused were arrested from Peer Elahi Bux (PIB) Colony. Their identities were ascertained as Riaz alias Piyala, Adnan, Kashif and others. They were said to be arrested on the pointation of an already arrested accused Qadir aka Bacha.
Meanwhile, a man was killed when a factory boiler blasted in Sharishah area of the city. The victim's body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsy.
