Punjab Assembly in its 20th session here on Tuesday passed a resolution in which it was put forth that government should take measures to provide technical education to women. The session on Private Members Day was chaired by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal. A resolution presented by legislator Sheikh Allaudin proposed that Nishan-e-Pakistan be given to Mullah Abdul Qadir and late Qamar-uz-Zaman, who were hanged in Bangladesh recently. The resolution was kept in pending.
A resolution presented by legislator Waqas Hassan Moakal asking the government to provide dialysis centres in district headquarters of the province was also kept in pending on the occasion. A resolution presented by MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt demanded that government and private hospitals be instructed to provide ECG and ultrasound for the women by female professionals. This resolution was passed on the occasion.
In another resolution by MPA Muhammad Sibtain Khan, he asked for severe punitive action on persons involved in milk adulteration. The resolution was also kept in pending. Parliamentary Secretary Health answering queries on the occasion said that according to Punjab Drug Rules 2007, it was mandatory for medical stores to be in category 'B'. This category is allocated to pharmacy assistant and pharmacy technician. Those persons had to be present in the pharmacy when it was open, parliamentary secretary stated.
He further said that Pharmacy license was issued to pharmacist of 'A' category, adding that those measures were taken under sections of Pharmacy Act. Parliamentary Secretary stated that in Punjab sale of medicine was allowed both in medical stores and pharmacies in Punjab. He stated that license of medical store was issued on B category. He stated that prior to opening of pharmacy drug inspector and Secretary District Quality Control visited the premises of pharmacy.
Parliamentary Secretary to a question stated that there was no medical assistant registered practitioner in the province at present. He said that permission had not been given since three years. Parliamentary Secretary Health replying to a query said there were 1,806 Lady Health Worker in District Lahore at present. Parliamentary Secretary Health Imran Nazeer said federal government gave charge of all the components of Sheikh Zaid Hospital to provincial government on 14-02-2012. The session was adjourned by the chair later on.
