President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said that opening of regional offices of Federal Insurance Ombudsman would be effective in providing justice to people at their doorsteps. Addressing at the inauguration of regional offices of Federal Insurance Ombudsman at Islamabad and Lahore, the President said federal ombudsman was a ray of light for people in redressal of their problems.
President Mamnoon said majority of people were unable to understand the complex legal procedures and to resolve their issues. He stressed that it was important to reach out to the people in all parts of the country for the provision of justice. He also called upon the Ombudsman departments to work on simplifying their procedures and make these easily understandable to laymen.
He lauded the working of various departments of Federal Ombudsman, which he said was serving the masses by facilitating them. The President proposed setting up offices of the Ombudsman at provincial capitals. He said the concept of insurance was important in the field of business and in safeguarding the investments for future. The President mentioned that some insurance companies were not abiding by the rules and regulations and were also not timely paying claims to their clients.
He emphasised that such companies should not be allowed to operate in the country. President Mamnoon distributed cheques among the affected people of insurance policy. Federal Insurance Ombudsman Raeesuddin Paracha said the regional offices would be helpful in providing speedy justice to the people.
He said multi-dimensional steps were being taken to raise awareness among the people about the assistance by Ombudsman and added that soon a cellular phone messaging service would be activated in this regard. He said the office of Ombudsman would contribute to the restoration of people's trust on insurance companies. Federal Ombudsman Salman Farooqui and senior officials attended the ceremony.
