President of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Karachi chapter, Najmi Alam, said on Thursday that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf candidate Amjadullah Khan had contacted PPP for monetary benefits for withdrawing himself from the NA-245 by-election seat in favour of the PPP. After PPP's denial, he approached another party, Najmi Alam told the media persons.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Ali Abbas Zaidi said that Alam should have informed the PTI leadership prior to the elections. Hours before by-polls at NA-245 and PS-115 began, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf candidate Amjadullah Khan withdrew himself from the seat in favour of Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Amjadullah made the last minute announcement in a press conference at the MQM's Nine-Zero headquarters. "With great regret, I have to say that people like me are unable to fit in parties like the PTI," said Amjadullah, flanked by senior MQM leaders. He said that class differences between rich and the poor were present in the PTI.
