Workshop concludes

Vice Chancellor Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Professor Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili has said that modern scientific application are being developed on the latest research based knowledge in order to benefit the community at large for socio-economic development of the common people.
This he said while addressing at the concluding ceremony of three-day training workshop on "Geo-informatics" at US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) of Mehran University Jamshoro on Thursday. Dr Uqaili said that role of the universities in the modern world has widened, educational institutes not only imparting education and award degrees but working for research and development.
He said it is need of the time for academia to uplift the society at large. The Vice Chancellor said that USPCAS-W is national level centre and with performance of its management it will be recognised across the globe. He said that such training courses will be organised in future as well to facilitate researchers at national level.
On this occasion, Project Director Professor Dr Bakhshal Khan Lashari said that through the guided vision of the Vice Chancellor MUET, this centre is moving to the right direction. With the technical support of University of Utah, this centre is striving best for achieving the goals and targets. The certificates were distributed among twenty participants who came from different parts of the province to participate in the three-day training workshop supported by Unites States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP).
The training focal person of the event Dr Altaf Ali Siyal informed that three-day Geo-informatics workshop was consisting of different modules including Geographical Information System (GIS), Satellites and Remote Sensing and others. He said that aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the faculty and students of the related fields. Among others, Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry, Chief of Party USPCAS-W, University of Utah, USA, Professor Dr Sajjad Ahmed from University of Nevada, USA, Dr Kamran Ansari, Deputy Director USPCAS-W, Muhammad Shahid Panhwar, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist USPCAS-W, Professor Shafi Muhamamd Kori, Waqas Ahmed, Ghulam Hussain Dars, Ghulam Ali Nizamani and Awais Anwar Chandio also attended the ceremony.
