Belgian Davis Cup coach dies

The former Belgian Davis Cup captain Julien Hoferlin has died at the age of 49 after a struggle with cancer, the Davis Cup site reported on Friday. Coach of the Belgian team between 2006-2008, he oversaw their promotion in 2007 to the World Group and also coached the British team and several prominent Belgian players. He was a frequent television consultant and was behind the microphone for many of the victories enjoyed by Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters.
"So many fun memories when I think back to the times I spent with Julien Hoferlin. Condolences to his family and friends RIP," Clijsters said on her Twitter account. Amelie Mauresmo said on her Twitter account that she was "devastated".
