Punjab government asked to control smuggling

Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front, Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Vice Chairman Tanvir Ahmed Sufi have demanded the Punjab government to control smuggling as it is causing a huge loss to the country's economy. In a statement issued, here on Wednesday, they praised a move by the Federal Board of Revenue to get help from law enforcement agencies including the army to control smuggling.
They claimed smuggling has already caused Rs 22 billion loss to the economy. "The way the provincial government, with the help of Frontier Corps, has considerably controlled smuggling in Balochistan, similar steps are also needed to be taken in the Punjab province where smuggling under the cover of the Afghan Transit Trade is on the rise," they said.
