Karate Championship in Lahore starts

The District Co-ordination Officer Lahore 24th National Karate Championship started at the Wapda Sports Complex on Wednesday. The opening ceremony also saw Pakistan Olympic Association President Arif Hassan, Divisional Sports Officer Nadeem Qaiser, Pakistan Karate Federation President Muhammad Jahangir, District Sports Officer Tanveer Abbas and Punjab Karate Association Secretary Muhammad Nadeem.
In the event, 10 teams from all over Pakistan participated and more than 120 players included in the two-day event. On the opening day, the Pakistan Army won gold while the Teams Wapda, Sindh and Police got silver and bronze. In below the 50-kilogramme age group, Ismail Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won gold; Bahawal Khan from Balochistan earned silver while Faisal Shahzad of the Army and Syed Shah Faisal of Sindh grabbed bronze. In below 55-kilogramme, Muhammad Kashif of Wapda got gold; Muhammad Murad of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earned silver and Abdul Azeem and Koray Khan of the Punjab got bronze.
