A spokesman for the Pakistan Embassy in Washington rejected as baseless media reports about a ministerial level meeting between Pakistan and Panama on the sidelines of ongoing Spring Meetings of IMF and the World Bank.
In a special event organized by United States Department of State on the subject of Global Connect Initiative on Friday, the Pakistani delegate happened to sit next to the Panamanian delegate because of alphabetical order. "The close proximity afforded the opportunity of a chance encounter, which was limited to exchange of pleasantries since the attention of both delegates was primarily focused on proceedings of the session," the spokesman said.
"It needs to be clearly understood that nothing formal was discussed as it was not an arranged meeting," the spokesman stated and added that media reports suggesting a Ministerial level meeting between the two sides were baseless, presumptuous and constitute misrepresentation of facts.
