Six dengue patients have been confirmed in Punjab's six districts, meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Dengue confirmed on Monday which was chaired by Health Advisor Khawaja Salman Raffique on Monday. It emerged that Faisalabad and Sheikhupura confirmed one each while Rawalpindi and Attock reported two cases each. "All the patients have recovered and discharged from the hospitals," the advisor claimed.
Dengue Control Programme Additional Director General Doctor Fayyaz Butt told his audience that a case response had been carried out near patients' homes and three dengue patients from Saudi Arabia and two from Malaysia had also recovered. Punjab Information Technology Board and Special Branch officers told the meeting about the weak points in dengue surveillance activities of various departments and agencies. The advisor also told officers concerned to remove gaps pointed out by the Special Branch at the operational level and claimed that the Punjab dengue control model is a successful one which international experts also praised it.
