20 Apr, 2016

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Ahmed Shah said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) does not want to derail the democratic system in the country. The Opposition Leader expressed these views while talking to media persons on Tuesday. He said that all the political parties should jointly find the way out to investigate "Panama Leaks".
He said that it was his personal proposal to appoint Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani as head of parliamentary Committee to look into the matter of 'Panama Leaks'. "I supported the stance of Raza Rabbani and he took me into confidence before refusing my proposal. We want to constitute a commission under the sitting Chief Justice of Pakistan and under it a forensic team to investigate the 'Panama Leaks'.
He said the matter of "Panama Leaks" has become more complicated after the statements of Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan and the sons of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Leader of Opposition in the Senate Chaudhary Aitzaz Ahsan said that the Prime Minister kept his assets secret from last 20 years. He said that the opposition should think and find way out to probe the matter.
He said that a commission should be constituted under the Chief Justice of Pakistan and an international forensic audit company should be hired and it should be authorised to investigate all accounts relating to the Prime Minister and his family. He said that in the first phase, the investigation should be started from the Prime Minister and his family. He said that a joint Parliamentary Committee should also be constituted for the Panama Leaks. However, he said that term of reference of the Commission or Committee should be specific for the investigation of the Prime Minister and his family.
