Peshawar-based US Consul General William J Martin and Economic Chief in Consulate General Kathryn Hoffman called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra here at Governor House, Peshawar on Tuesday. The distinguished guests remained with the Governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with particular reference of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) and situation in the region.On the occasion, the Governor said that tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices for the peace of entire region and now the time has come to reciprocate their sacrifices.
He urged international community to come forward and play their due role in their rehabilitation and further strengthening the ongoing efforts of the government to make this possible. He also highlighted some of the steps underway for ensuring sustainable peace particularly in FATA. Talking on various points, the governor also apprised them about the endeavours of the government to ensure the dignified return and rehabilitation of displaced persons and said socio-economic uplift of the people of FATA and sustainable peace will continue to remain a top priority with special focus on bringing further improvement in health and educational facilities in the tribal region.
