Panama Papers: LHCBA seeks independent inquiry

20 Apr, 2016

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has called for an independent inquiry into Panama Papers. The bar leaders, while speaking at a general house meeting on Tuesday, said the whole nation was upset over the situation emerged after the Panama Leaks. They said that the allegations against the rulers for maintaining offshore companies had brought a bad name to the country. They lamented that the rulers of civilised countries had stepped down or sought public apology, however, the Pakistani rulers had no moral courage to accept their guilt.
LHCBA president Rana Zia Abdul Rehman said the legal fraternity had an unbiased view against corruption and corrupt leaders, irrespective of political affiliation. He said the bar wanted a fair and free probe into Panama Papers. The house also passed a resolution unanimously, calling for an independent inquiry into the matter. The lawyers belonging to PML-N and PTI chanted slogans against each others.
