The Karachi Port handled 172,726 tonnes of cargo comprising 150,285 tonnes of import cargo and 22,441 tonnes of export cargo including 5,154 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 150,285 tonnes comprised of 42,405 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,111 tonnes of bulk cargo; 48,144 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 37,436 tonnes of coal; 2,994 tonnes of fertiliser; 2,467 tonnes of palm bulk expeller; 5,247 tonnes of scrap and 40,625 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,441 tonnes comprised of 12,941 tonnes of containerised cargo and 9,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,154 containers comprising of 3,115 containers import and 2,029 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 977 of 20's and 1,026 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 43 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 232 of 20's and 337 of 40's loaded containers while 369 of 20's and 382 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Kota Naluri, Hansa Neuburg, Batam Trader, UACC Ibn Sina, Aditya, Meteora and Chios Trinity carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Wan Hai-511, MOL Dedication, Batam Trader, Sima Giselle, Milos, Pacific Winter and Agata M carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Pacific Winter and Agata carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Thursday while five ships namely Sima Giselle, Milos, Torm Lorie, N Mars and Apiradee Naree carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were five vessels viz. A Idefix, Oriental Nadeshiko, Futura, Bahamas Spirit and Le Li carrying containers, chemical, mogas, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, Najran, Malhari and Jin Gang carrying containers, chemical and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
