The United States (US) has disbursed $223.6 million under Coalition Support Fund (CSF) to Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) officials confirmed to Business Recorder here on Monday. In reply to a query, US Embassy in Islamabad responded that the $376 million Coalition Support Fund (CSF) payment in September 2015 for July-September 2014 operations was the most recent payment. The $223 million payment for October-December 2014 operations should be released to Pakistan in the coming days. The next quarterly claim has been sent to the Pentagon and is being prepared for the interagency review process.
Talking to Business Recorder SBP officials confirmed that $223.6 million of CSF was received in the second week of April, 2016. The Senate Defence Committee was recently informed that $13 billion has been disbursed under CSF since 9/11 of which 40 percent is earmarked for the civil government.
The committee was informed that the CSF arrangement, which is a reimbursement for expenses incurred by the armed forces in the campaign against terrorism since 9/11, will end on September 30, 2016, while the US Congress has allocated $100 million for border control mechanism between Pakistan and Afghanistan. During Pakistan-US strategic dialogue held last month in Washington, the Pakistani side had reportedly proposed $8 billion special package for Fata security stabilisation and development over the next 5 years.
