Leader of Opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said the first internal forensic audit should be conducted over the 'Panama leaks' before the constitution of Judicial Commission to start the accountability of the Prime Minister's family. A delegation of PPP met Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed at his residence Lal Haveli on Wednesday and invited him to attend opposition's joint meeting to be held on May 2. The leaders of both parties exchanged views over the Panama Leaks.
Talking to media, senior PPP leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said that PPP wants to unite opposition over the Panama Leaks and that accountability should begin from the Prime Minster's family and his industries. He said that before formation of a Judicial Commission, a forensic audit of total assets should be conducted to trace the amount of money transferred abroad.
He said that after a forensic audit, a Judicial Commission under the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan should look into the matter. He said that the government should prepare new Terms of Reference (ToRs) for this Commission with the consultation of opposition parties.
While rejecting the ToRs prepared by the government, Aitzaz said that these ToRs were formulated without the consultation of opposition parties. The Opposition Leader said that there is a need of a special legislation for this purpose. Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that he wants eradication of corruption and dishonesty from the country. He said that "we have only one agenda to follow which is 'Go Nawaz Go'." He said that a country with a scandalised Prime Minister (PM) can never get loans from international agencies.
