The Karachi Port handled 157,700 tonnes of cargo comprising 125,401 tonnes of import cargo and 32,299 tonnes of export cargo including 7,166 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 125,401 tonnes comprised of 60,103 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,032 tonnes of general cargo; 5,834 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 38,432 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,299 tonnes comprised of 26,558 tonnes of containerised cargo; 101 tonnes of general cargo and 5,640 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 7,166 containers comprising of 4,030 containers import and 3,136 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,634 of 20's and 1,179 of 40's loaded while 14 of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 707 of 20's and 289 of 40's loaded containers while 415 of 20's and 718 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Batam Trader, As Orelia, Nave Rigel, Mohar and Mimasaka carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. Kota Lembah, Bahamas, Royal Emerald, MT Quetta, Bay Pearl, Mimasaka, Seacon-7 and Hony Future carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were six ships namely Ital Laguna, YM Excellence, Mariella Bottiglieri, Jin Gang, JS Rhone and Seacon-7 carrying containers, oil tanker, steel, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while two ships namely Kota Lembah and Chang Hang Pu Hai carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were two vessels viz. Al Abdali and Baoxiang carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday while nine vessels viz. X-Press Euphrates, Orient Pine, Overseas Kythnos, UACC Ibn Sina, ICDAS-09, Calypso-N, Yangze-6, IVS Augusta and Agata-M carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
