The Punjab government has devised comprehensive and solid policy with the consultation of farmer's organisations for the purchase of wheat in a transparent manner by providing all out facilities to the wheat growers.
This was stated by Punjab Labour Minister/Incharge Wheat Procurement Campaign Faisalabad district Raja Ashfaq Sarwar during his visit at wheat procurement centre set-VI here. He inspected the arrangements at centre and reviewed the Bardana issuance process. He also met with the farmers on the spot and said that the Punjab government had been taken a number of measures for the welfare and betterment of the farmers. He said that target had been fixed by the Punjab government to purchase 4 million tons wheat and Rs 130 billion had been allocated for this purpose. He said that CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had given Kisan Package of Rs 100 billion which was a remarkable historical step of this government for the prosperity of farmers and development agriculture sector.
He assured the farmers that their rights would be protected and no one would be allowed to exploit the farmers during wheat procurement campaign. The minister said that provincial ministers, secretaries and other high ranking officers were supervising the wheat procurement campaign for maintaining the entire arrangements at the centres for the convenience of the wheat growers.
He checked the record of issuance of Bardana and warned the staff to perform their duties fairly. He directed that all arrangements should be remained intact and best service delivery should be ensured for making the campaign flawless. Deputy Director Food Shafiullah Khan informed the Minister that 149000 metric ton wheat would be purchased in the district for which comprehensive arrangements had been made at the 11 purchase centres. He said that the officers of district administration were also supervising the arrangements while dispute resolving committees had been made active for the smooth process of wheat procurement.
The farmers appreciated the agriculture friendly policies of the Punjab Chief Minister and expressed their satisfaction over the wheat procurement policy.
