The ‘Man of Steel’ star Henry Cavill is reportedly finished as Warner Bros.’ Superman. Cavill is no longer in the role after talks broke down for a cameo appearance in the upcoming ‘Shazam’.
The Hollywood Reporter’s story early Wednesday revealed Cavill is parting ways with the D.C. Universe after contract negotiations broke down for his cameo in Shazam. It's unlikely Cavill will return to the Universe given that Warner Bros. has shifted its focus to a Supergirl movie, which will feature a teenage heroine and follow a much earlier timeline than the recent movies in which Cavill's Superman has appeared.
Soon after the news spread like a wildfire, Cavill posted a cryptic message on his Instagram.
The ‘Justice League’ actor shared a video of himself wearing a Krypton lifting team T-shirt while slowly showcasing a Superman figurine on Instagram. Cavill set the video to the melody of ‘The Blue Danube’ by Johann Strauss II.
Several fans on Twitter reacted in confusion, “What does that means?”.
Warner Bros. has however neither denied nor confirmed any such rumours. WB also likely won't make another Superman movie for several years, and Cavill recently signed on to star in the Netflix series ‘The Witcher’.
