Despite all the challenges the country is heading in a right direction adding that all TDPs from FATA will return their homes safe and sound by the end of this year. This was stated by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while addressing a ceremony held to celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day at Pakistan Red Crescent National Headquarters.
"I salute PRC for its promising efforts for community betterment and for its role in relief operations", he added. He said that humanitarian institutions like Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) have become the voice of the heart of every person due to its fast track relief operations and speedy response in emergency situations. Speaking at the occasion, Dr Saeed Elahi Chairman PRC said that the seed that was planted 152 years ago is now providing fruit and shadow to many people around the world. PRC works by acting upon 7 principles of humanity, Impartiality, neutrality, independence, unity, voluntary service and universality.
He said that PRC has provided relief of billions rupees to more than 1.5 billion affected people in Pakistan since its inception 68 years ago. He added that PRC has provided First Aid training to 150,000 people and PRC has a target to deploy district officers in 152 districts of the country.
Dr Rizwan Naseer Secretary General PRC enlightened the audience about different programs being carried out by PRC. He lauded the efforts of PRC volunteers and said that we are effective in our humanitarian response and grassroots communication because we are strongly anchored in local communities. Millions of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers and professionals, working in close proximity with those in need, are leading the effort to bring about positive change in their urban and rural villages, towns and cities.
