Work on Green Line Bus (GLB) project announced by Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif goes n rapidly and it will complete next year. The bus project will considerably mitigate the sufferings of commuters of Karachi and the Karachiites feel indebted to the federal government for giving a practical consideration to chronic public transport issue of this mega city, so far neglected by the provincial authorities.
Presently, development work along Green Line corridor continues at North Nazimabad, Board Office, Golimar, and surrounding areas. The work is being carried out day and night. However, due to this work, the residents of the areas are facing some difficulties too, but the officials assure that within one year this project will be completed and the commuters will enjoy better travelling facilities.
The estimated cost of this 18.4-kilometer long project is Rs.16 billion. It starts from Surjani Town and will end at Jamia Cloth Market, via Banoria Town Chowrangi.
However, the Karachiites expect from the provincial government that it will also begin work on other promised rapid bus projects, alongside early repair and running of the Karachi Circular Railway, as without the KCR the public transport system in Karachi will remain incomplete. They request the Sindh chief minister to allocate sufficient funds in the coming budget for the KCR and rapid bus projects because the Karachiites are now fed up with only lip-service to vital public transport sector of this mega city.
