Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 224,595 tonnes of cargo comprising 158,386 tonnes of import cargo and 66,209 tonnes of export cargo including 7,436 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 158,386 tonnes comprised of 108,296 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,639 tonnes of general cargo; 6,288 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 2,001 tonnes of cement; 4,287 tonnes of palm bulk expeller and 33,163 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 66,209 tonnes comprised of 52,064 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of general cargo; 1,195 tonnes of talcum powder and 12,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,436 containers comprising of 4,374 containers import and 3,062 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,878 of 20's and 1,210 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 33 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 724 of 20's and 279 of 40's loaded containers while 486 of 20's and 647 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were ten ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Xin Wei Hai, Ponente, Al Farahidi, UACC Ibn Sina, Chemroute Sky, Berthea, Al Mahboobah, Calypson and Han Li carrying containers, oil tankers chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. APL Cyprine, KMTC Dubai, OEL Dubai, MT Shalamar, SC Shenzhen and Africa Glory carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely OOCL California, KMTC Dubai, OEL Dubai, MT Shalamar and Bremen Trader carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday.
There were seven vessels viz. X-Press Kailash, Sima Prestige, MSC Lana, Brizo, Everrich-6, Bunga Laurel and Le Li carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and iron powder respectively due to arrive on Monday while five vessels viz. YM Orchid, Ever Divine, Jeil Crystal, Bai Lu Zuo and Olympic Pegasus carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 113,898 tonnes includes 55,400 tonnes of diesel oil; 9,200 tonnes of palm oil; 3,826 tonnes of coal; 9,226 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 10,026 tonnes of chemical and 26,220 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 46,531 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,967 containers comprising of 1,934 containers import and 2,033 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were three ships namely CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Star Delta and MT Atlantic Glory carrying containers, coal and chemical sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Athens and CV X-Press Kailash carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Athens, CV X-Press Kailash, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Star Delta, MV Tomini Harmony, MT Bunga Azalea, MT Sovereign and MT Atlantic Glory currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, palm oil, diesel oil and chemical respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Al-Kharj, MV An Africa, MV Pabal, MV GSW Fighter, MT White Purl, MT Liberty-N, MT Al-Dasma, MT Mare Tirrenum, MT Red Eagle, MT Topaz-1 and MT ECF Nur-K carrying containers, cement, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were two vessels viz. CV Al-Kharj and MV GSW Fighter carrying containers and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were nine ships namely CV Maersk Stockholm, CV CMA CGM Samson, CV CMA CGM Nerval, CV MSC Roma, MV An Africa, MT Bronia, MT Mare Tirrenum, MT Plymouth and MT Brizo carrying containers, cement, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Kingston and MT Karachi carrying containers and furnace oil due to arrive on Tuesday.
