The Nature Publishing Group, a world-class publisher of high impact scientific and medical information in print and online, has issued its ranking of Pakistani universities in terms of research publications in the field of natural sciences and has ranked Punjab University second best university in Pakistan in the field. It is pertinent to mention here that PU is a general public sector university while it has left many science universities behind in the ranking.
According to the ranking, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Punjab University, National University of Science and Technology, University of Management and Technology, Lahore University of Management Sciences, Bahauddin Zakria University, National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, University of Peshawar, Quaid-e-Azam University and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences have secured from 1st to 10th positions respectively.
Punjab University Academic Staff Association has congratulated PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran on this achievement. In a press statement, ASA President Professor Dr Sajid Rashid and Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain have said that this achievement was a result of research-friendly policies of PU administration which had taken several initiatives to promote research culture in Punjab University and had supported university teachers.
