The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani Thursday inaugurated the new lecture hall and extension of Police School of Public Disorder and Riot Management in Mardan. Additional IGP Headquarter Mian Asif, RPO Mardan Muhammad Tahir Khan, DPO Mardan Faisal Shahzad, police officers, professionals, representatives of Universities and prominent members of the civil society participated in the ceremony.
The IGP praised the efforts of Additional IG Headquarters Mian Asif, former RPO Mardan, Saeed Wazir and DPO Faisal Shahzad for successful completion of the Police School of Public Disorder and Riot Management. Addressing the police officers, the IGP said that mob control and disorder management is a specialised field. The purpose of the school is to impart specialized training to the police in the art of public disorder management without resorting to brutal means.
The training spectrum of the school includes mob psychology, negotiation skills, stress management, mob handling, crowd control techniques and mock exercises. It will contribute a great in avoiding any untoward situations, bridging the public-police trust deficit and improving police image. Later, the Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani inaugurated Model Police Station Swabi in the district Swabi. The new Model police station has been built by Aitebaar in co-ordination with the United Nations Development Programme.
It houses a new reporting room, modern interrogation rooms, conference room, syndicate rooms, SHO office, lock-ups, offices of investigation officers, wireless rooms etc. The IGP informed that Model police stations were being established to give better policing environment and restore the dignity of the common man and give them honour and respect seeking solution of their problems at thana level.
