The Supreme Court on Thursday sought a report from federal government on Prime Minster's power to pronounce Kissan relief package with subsidy in the country. A two-member judge bench led by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan resumed the plea of a phosphate company which sought apex court directives for provision of subsidy. During the proceedings, responding to the bench' query on constitutionality of the subsidy, the federal finance secretary informed the court that Kissan relief package was announced as supplementary grant from Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
