SC terms absorption of officials in other departments violation of court's orders

Expressing dismay over absorption of deputationists in other than parent departments on Thursday the top court termed it sheer violation of the court orders. Challenging 73 appointments made in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) under Article 184 (3) of the Constitution the petitioner Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, former vice president of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, had urged the apex court to declare the appointments illegal.
Resuming the hearing in the matter, a three-member bench led by Justice Amir Hani Muslim issued directives to Secretary Establishment and Federal Secretary for Ministry of Housing to repatriate a government servant Raja Zahoor Ahmed from the IHC with seniority and monitorial benefits.
Raja Zahoor Ahmed, an employee of Federal Ministry of Housing, was appointed as Staff Officer to the Registrar of the IHC on deputation who was repatriated three years before to his parent department but the Housing Ministry declined to retain his services. He approached the apex court for remedy in the matter to which the bench issued directives to the concerned authorities for his repatriation with all back benefits. Seeking report from the Attorney General for Pakistan office in the matter, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till May 16.
